• Our thoughts are with those affected by earthquakes in Turkey and Syria
• Online shopping has made life easier but has some downsides
• It has caused a decline in worker's rights, employment law, pay, taxes, and traditional local shops
• Obesity levels are on the rise due to the instant availability of everything online
• The podcast will focus on the factual, functional, fun, and frustrating side of online shopping
• Consumers fall into three categories - the Abacus category, born up to 1950, who may struggle with online ordering and payment
• Despite exceptions, many in this category wish things were like they used to be
• The Ford Capris category is for those in their mid 40's or 50's who grew up wanting one and are not afraid of new technologies but may struggle with them.
• Category 3a includes those in their mid-30s to early 40s who grew up using computers and the internet for research. These individuals are ambitious, energetic, and called "scruffs of the neck".
• Category 3b, or KIA and PITA, refers to anyone born in the 21st century who can't imagine life without a smartphone and apps.
• Online shopping and apps seem to be the modern addiction, and it's becoming easier for organizations to build up a picture of our lives and purchasing habits.
• We need to beware of the calculated marketing world we live in and our personal data protection.
• Are you a modernist who prefers online shopping and app usage, or a traditionalist who loves in-person shopping at travel agencies, haberdashery shops, and hardware stores?
